RM - Castle in Under 15 Minutes for
Rush with 27 Villagers - by
Tangquester
This is to be done with Persia. China can theoretically
do this strategy about as fast, but I don't think I have the stomach to make
their start do this, especially with 27 vills. Besides, Persians have such a
full cav line that it pays off in the long game to do it with them instead.
Okay, first off, you don't want to loom. I know it's scary, but that extra 50
food can allow you this provided you find sheep in good time (i.e. your sheep
don't hide for the first 5 minutes like mine have). The build order breaks down
like so:
- Villagers 1-6 on sheep, God willing
- Villagers 7-10 go to berries
- Next 3 vills go to wood, build a lumber camp as early as you can for
efficiency's sake (should be easier with the bonus 50
wood you get, you only need 10 wood more for 2 houses, a mill and a camp)
- Villager 14 lures boar
- Vills 15-17 go to wood
- Next vill goes to lure boar (be VERY careful, you have to shoot the boar twice
and be on your way back before the boar hits you once to survive comfortably
without loom)
The next point is map-contingent: if you have deer in a decent location (less
than a screen-length away from the TC or your berry mill), you should put 4
vills on deer once they finish up with the 2nd boar, otherwise put them on wood
or gold and try and make up the difference
Build a farm with a new vill every time you have 60 wood until you have at least
5 at this point, if you put a mill by the deer, you can get by with 3 or 4, but
it'll be tight
Once vill 25 pops out, assign him and 3 other vills to mine gold (along with a
mining camp, naturally), and hit the Feudal button.
Now, at this point, you should have (approximately) 7 woodcutters, 4 berry
pickers, 3-6 farmers (depending on deer or no), 4 deer hunters if you have less
than 5 farms, and 4, possibly 5 gold miners. Assign any extra villies you have
over to berries or another farm if you think you'll have the wood, food will be
your primary necessity now, and in Castle when attacking.
Upon Feudaling, build a market and blacksmith (smithy being a requisite for
siege shops) while building 2 vills out of your TC. Sell your 200 stone, buy 100
food and 100 wood if you have to, 200 wood if you can. Hit the Castle button
once you have both buildings done (there should be little lag time here
hopefully)
Upon hitting the Castle button, take a pair of villies off berries (prolly
almost finished anyhow) and have them make the long, dangerous trek to the enemy
base. a pair of home-base villies drop a rax at home (for raid defense later),
when they finish have your walking forwards throw down a stable, then keep
walking till they reach the enemy base. (they will be in constant danger without
loom, have your scout escort them) The only Feudal econ tech you'll want to get
is the wood upgrade, the farming upgrade can wait till later when you're a
little less poor.
Upon hitting Castle, immediately research loom and queue a pair of knights,
sending them straight to the enemy wood pile. Once the enemy garrisons that,
check and see if the enemy mill has farms around it, if so, they make a good
unprotected snack at this point in the game. Also have your 2 forward villies
drop a siege shop. Upon finishing the siege shop, build 2 rams out of it and
send both forward vills home to wood. Continuously queue knights at your stable
and vills at your one TC at home (the TC works faster, so you'll still have some
advantage even with only one TC, and your enemy won't be having a 2nd one up yet
anyhow)
Once you finish the pair of rams, hit his TC with them. Your siege shop should
start building a few scorps (3-5) if the enemy's building spears to stop your
knights (you'll have around 6-7 by this point, with more always coming), if not
build farms at home and more knights until the enemy does start countering them.
Hit his TC with your pair of rams and cover them with all your knights, and kill
all the vills you can when it goes down. If the enemy made Castle, queue a few
spears at home for raid defense on your tender areas.
If you've got his TC, stop producing military momentarily, and buy 100 stone.
Then wait till you have 275 wood and drop a 2nd TC on stone or wood. From there,
just stay on the attack and keep pushing until he dies.
